Have you ever been caught off guard on your route?
You know what I mean. You’re underneath the machine, looking for that screw that just fell and you just can’t find it. Next, a customer asks if you can move a machine so they can re-organize their office. In the middle of all that, someone wants to refer your business to their friend and you don't have any cards.
Vending is a volatile business and new situations happen all the time. When most vendors start, they have to learn how to set themselves up for success by trial and error. They deal with one headache after another wishing they had been more prepared. Is this you? Do you go home and think, “This won’t happen next time.” Maybe you're right, but inevitably it'll be something else:
Does this sound like something you've said? And the problem is, it's not just a half hour here or there - if you don't properly prepare for something as simple as cutting open a box, the problem will happen again. And again.
On the other hand, you only need a solution once. Sure it's a lot of work up front, but every step you make towards readying yourself for a day on the route, your work becomes easier in the future. By committing yourself to preparing for anything, you are committing to your long term well being.
Even if you want to change, what can you do? There are so many potential things that could happen. Preparing for every possible outcome is overwhelming. So you just go back to business as usual, accepting that being stressed out is just part of the job.
There is another way.
When Custom Touch Vending trains it's employees, one thing they stress is to use the right tools. If you want to have less stress, more time, and better customer service, you need to have the right equipment with you on the route. This is the equipment that allows you to swiftly deal with any concern and gives you that most precious of things; peace of mind. Now you can have access to everything they have.
It’s the difference between a stuck bill and a sale. The difference between a dirty window and another coin in the coin box. The difference between an account that gives you a referral and one that doesn’t.
Of course I think you should learn from your mistakes and do better, but that learning has a price. What if you have to drive to a hardware store or all the way back to your house to get what you need? “Sorry Mr. Customer, I’ll have to come back tomorrow…”
On the other hand, how would it feel to be the kind of vendor that people look to and say, “Man, they’ve got it all together. How do they remain so calm and collected?”
Why not set yourself up for success? Do you want to be prepared, focused, and ready for anything?
I just finished watching the videos and found them to be extremely helpful. Being a new vendor I needed the helpful pointers that you gave. The checklist and different tools to keep, along with having a separate bag to place your coins in was great. As a small drink machine vendor, without a ton of experience, this video sheds some light on some things I overlooked.
